ROSS HADLEY

Ross Hadley landed once at Willow Grove, on April 15, 1929. He was flying the Stearman he identified as NC8809. Based at Hollywood, CA, he did not cite a destination or if he was carrying passengers. The photograph, right, shows him performing maintenance on NC8809. Notice it was painted in a patriotic theme with stars and stripes. The fuselage was lettered with
At one point Hadley was president of Pacific Aeromotive Corp., a distributor of Wright engines and an aviation accessories maintenance shop based at Los Angeles Mines Field. Hadley raced in the 1932 National Air Races (NAR). According to the Aircraft Year Book for 1933 , Hadley placed way down (33rd) on the list of finishers of the Pacific Wing of the Cord Cup Race (transcontinental air derby).
He also competed in the 1938 National Air Races (Beechcraft NC18776, not a Register airplane). He placed 5th, achieving 181.84 MPH in 11:13:46.
Hadley also landed four times and signed the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register, and three times at Clover Field. In five of those landings he was flying NC8809. Hadley's biography is online at the Davis-Monthan Airfield Register Web site at the link. He was born November 25, 1900 and died during January, 1984. He carried Transport pilot license T3189.
